The Georgian Orthodox Church has declared its official position regarding the Tomos for the Ukrainian Church. It believes that Constantinople and Moscow Patriarchate must jointly seek ways to resolve it. The position of the Georgian Church was made public by Рatriarchate.ge.

“The initiative of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in connection with the church situation in Ukraine is known to make tense the relationship between the Russian Orthodox Church and Constantinople.

We believe that at this stage it is necessary to refrain from the preliminary assessments until the official and final position of each of these parties is fixed on the basis of canonical regulations,” the statement of the Georgian Orthodox Church goes.

The document further reads as follows, “This topic is very sensitive and must be resolved and discussed between the two Patriarchates. It is clear that both parties feel their responsibility before millions of Orthodox believers, take care of the unity of the Orthodox Churches. And we hope that they will try to find all possible ways for a peaceful solution of problems. We are praying for this.”
