Patriarch Ilia of Georgia expressed his condolences over the death of Georgian soldiers who defended Ukraine from Russian invaders.

According to the Spiritual Front of Ukraine, this is stated on the official website of the Georgian Orthodox Church.

In his message, the patriarch notes the following: "We once again say goodbye to the Georgian soldiers who died in Ukraine – Aluda Zviadauri, Kakha Gogol, Berdya Dzhokhadze, Gela Gogia and Edisher Kvaratskhelia – who gave their lives defending their neighbors.

We offer prayers so that the Lord will rest the righteous and their immortal souls and grant peace, the power of prayer and unshakeable faith to their relatives and friends that life does not end with death but is the beginning of eternal, true life."

Recently, at a plenary session of the Georgian Parliament, MP from the party "for Georgia" Alexander Motzerelia said that 20 Georgian soldiers were killed in the war in Ukraine.
