Ukraine’s largest crucifix has been installed in Dniprodzerzhynsk. It was made at the Dniprodzerzhynsk Pivdenmash.

According to Dnipropetrovsk. Kommentarii, the crucifix has a height of 12 meters.

The sculptor Harnyk Khachatryan said that the cross is made of iron, which is symbolic for a city with a lot of heavy industry.

The unveiling of the giant sculpture was attended by hundreds of believers and local officials and MPs.

The sculpture was made and installed at the expense of local entrepreneurs, who, along with local government officials, were presented with awards from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate.

The unveiling ceremony did not go quite according to plan, as the crown of thorns on the head of Christ tore the canvas which covered sculpture, so the “ribbon cutting” was no successful.
