Head of Italian Episcopal Conference Visits Ukraine

On July 16, 2010, Cardinal Angelo Bagnasco, the president of the Italian Episcopal Conference and metropolitan of Genoa, visited the Ukrainian Catholic University.

On July 16, 2010, Cardinal Angelo Bagnasco, the president of the Italian Episcopal Conference and metropolitan of Genoa, visited the Ukrainian Catholic University.

Cardinal Bagnasco had a meeting with UCU’s rector Fr. Borys Gudziak, Ph.D., and the university’s administration. The cardinal was acquainted with different departments: the Catechetical Institute, the Institute of Religion and Society, and the Emmaus Center for Spiritual Support. He also visited the Museum of the Underground Church in the university.

His Eminence had the opportunity to meet participants of the iconography school and to visit the Lviv Business School (UCU). The cardinal also visited the wooden church on the new UCU campus construction site.

Cardinal Angelo Bagnasco’s visit to UCU is part of his trip to Zarvanytsia – a famous pilgrimage place, a spiritual center in the Ternopil region, where he celebrated the Divine Liturgy with Patriarch Lubomyr Husar, the head of Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church.
