Head of the UGCC will share the Christmas Eve with the internally displaced people

On Christmas Eve, January 6, the head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church Sviatoslav Shevchuk will share a holiday meal usually called a holy supper (свята вечеря) with the internally displaced people from Eastern Ukraine.

On Christmas Eve, January 6, the head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church Sviatoslav Shevchuk will share a holiday meal usually called a holy supper (свята вечеря) with the internally displaced people from Eastern Ukraine.

Internally displaced families from the Donetsk and Lugansk regions and the Crimea will take part in the event. The estimated number is more than 110 people, many children. List of invitees was prepared by Caritas Kyiv, which systematically works with IDPs.

Patriarchal Cathedral choir and seminarians Kyiv UGCC seminary will also take part in the event, they will play the traditional Christmas vertep.

The same event was held last year. Head of the UGCC in his Christmas address urged his faithful to be more open to IDPs. International organizations indicate that there are more than 1,5 million of IDPs in Ukraine after the Russian aggression in the east of the country began in April 2014
