Based on materials from the Security Service of Ukraine, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has revoked the Ukrainian citizenship of Onufriy (Berezovsky), the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate.
This was reported by the press service of the Security Service of Ukraine.
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has determined that Onufriy voluntarily acquired Russian citizenship in 2002 without notifying the appropriate Ukrainian authorities. Nevertheless, he continued to retain his rights as a citizen of Ukraine.
According to information gathered by the SBU, Onufriy Berezovsky maintains connections with the Moscow Patriarchate and has actively opposed the canonical independence of the Ukrainian Church from it. Representatives of the Moscow Patriarchate openly support Russian aggression against Ukraine.
Despite the ongoing full-scale invasion, Onufriy (Berezovsky) continues to endorse the policies of the Russian Orthodox Church and its leadership, particularly that of Patriarch Kirill (Gundyayev).
It should be noted that Gundyaev has blessed the armed aggression of Russian troops and promotes a propaganda policy that justifies and incites violence against the Ukrainian people. By supporting the aggressive policies of the Russian Federation, he also aids the criminal activities of the country's political leadership.
