Hired Thugs Did Not Dare to Attack Basilian Monastery in Kyiv

The hegumen of the Monastery of St. Basil the Great in Kyiv told RISU over the phone the hired thugs did not attack the building during the night. There were a few young men in sportswear, who entered the monastery, but nothing happened.

Now the Basilian monastery is guarded by activists of the EuroMaidan Self Defense. It also houses a medical clinic, which assists 20 people who were wounded in clashes with security forces.

Eight hours earlier, information that the Basilian Fathers in Kyiv asked for protection because “hired thugs are gathering around and preparing an assault” was ported on Ukrayinska Pravda’s FB page. The messaged asked for 30 equipped strong men to go to the monastery to stop the attack.
