The Holodomor Memorial Day is marked annually on the fourth Saturday of November.
In order to worthily remember the victims ofthe genocide of Ukrainian nation - Holodomor of 1932 - 1933 in Ukraine, committed by the totalitarian repressive Stalinist regime and the famines of 1921 - 1922, 1946 - 1947 in Ukraine, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko issued on November 13, 2015 the Decree urging the Cabinet of Ministers to ensure proper organization and conduct of activities on the Holodomors Memorial Day in 2015.
Thus,a nationwide minute of silence is scheduled for November 28, 2015 16:00 PM. On November 28, 2015, the State Flag of Ukraine will be lowered and the entertainment activities will be limited.
On November 28, 2015, the National Museum “Memorial to Holodomor Victims” will host the mourning activities in Kyiv, in other cities of Ukraine similar actions will take place with the participation of representatives of state agencies, local governments and the public, scientists, clergy and representatives of foreign countries. There shall be the thematic research, information, educational, patriotic and educational and cultural events.
Religious organizations will hold a memorial service for the victims of famines of 1921 - 1922, 1932 - 1933 and 1946 - 1947 in the Ukraine.
Events commemorating the Holodomor victims
According toDirector of the National Museum “Memorial to Victims of Holodomor” Olesia Stasiuk, on November 28 at 15:00, the actionsto remember Holodomor victims will be held at the Memorial. The Kyiv residents and visitors are invited to come to the Memorial and light a candle of memory.”
That day commemorative activities will be held in all Ukrainian cities.
On November 18, at 18.30, a lecture by Professor Valentyna Borysenko entitled “Old and new myths about the Holodomor”will be held, the next day will be madea presentation by Professor Volodymyr Serhiychuk “Holodomor 1932-1933 as genocide of Ukrainians.”
The project presentation by Professor Vasyl Marochko “Encyclopedia of Holodomor” and a lecture “Holodomor in Donbas: Facts and Consequences”are scheduled at the Holodomor Victims Memorial on 20 November. On Saturday it hosts an exhibition by Valery Franchuk entitled “The Dedication,” and the “Chorale of immortality” from the International concert series “Elite Chamber Music Evenings of Yevhenia Basalaeva” will be performed at 19:00 in the Column Hall of the National Philharmonic of Ukraine.
On November 23, the Holodomor Memorial will hold a public interactive lesson of Memory for children aged 7-9 themed“Holodomor: Stay human” and at 18.30 – Benedict Banet film (France - Ukraine) “Holodomor: the forgotten genocide” will be screened.
On November 24, the movie by Ariadna Okhrimovitch“Holodomor: the voices of witnesses” (2015) will be shown at 18.30 in the Memorial, and on November 25, the Memorial will host the exhibition “People of Truth,” prepared in cooperation with the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory.
The presentation of the exhibition of Ukrainian memorial ritual loaves dubbed “Unbaked bread” is scheduled on November 26, 12:00 , and the first night of Children's exhibition “A piece of bread for Angel” (in cooperation with Ivan Honchar Museum and children's folk school “Oreli”) will be held on Friday, November, at 18.00.
