President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky called the shelling of the Sviatohirsk Lavra of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) an illustrated lie of Russian propaganda.
The head of state said this in his address on the night of March 14, reports TSN.
According to him, at the time of the shelling, there was not a single military target in the monastery, but this did not stop the invaders.
"In the east of our country, the invaders decided to "demilitarize" and "denazify" the Sviatohirsk Lavra of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate. At the time of the strike, there were only monks and hundreds of refugees on the territory of the monastery. There was not a single military target inside or near the Lavra. But Russian troops do not stop even before striking the Lavra," Zelensky stressed.
The president believes this fact demonstrated that "the entire ideology of the Russian state is a simple lie."
On the night of March 13, Russian planes and artillery attacked the north of the Donetsk region. Svyatohirsk Lavra suffered from shelling.
