After the solemn service was over, Archbishop Claudio Gugerotti, Apostolic Nuncio in Ukraine, Bishop Pavlo of Odessa and Balta, head of the German Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ukraine, Bishop Serhiy Mashevsky, representatives of the Odessa-Crimean Exarchate of the UGCC and the Caritas Odessa UGCC Foundation addressed the audience.
On behalf of the management of the Department of culture, Nationalities, Religions and Protection of Cultural Heritage Sites of Odessa Regional State Administration, Yaroslav Reznikov presented to Archbishop Bronislaw letter of appreciation for his years of service, durability and consistency in the development of spiritual and organizational life of the Church, significant contribution to the formation of Ecumenical dialogue and the intensification and diversity of religious life on the territory of Odesa and Ukraine, as well as a keepsake to remind about the sunny Odesa region.
"The Bishop has always been and will remain a caring person who took an active part in the social and cultural life of the region. He became a moral authority for thousands of believers, who always respected him as a demanding and at the same time fair and consistent leader of the diocese in their actions," the message reads.
It should be noted that Pope Francis accepted the abdication of the Ordinary Bishop the Diocese of Odessa-Simferopol of the RCC in Ukraine, Bronislaw Bernacki, who turned 75 last September. He was replaced in this pastoral Ministry by Bishop Stanislav Shyrokoradyuk, who was appointed by Pope Francis as coadjutor Bishop with special powers of the Diocese of Odessa-Simferopol, that is, the successor.
