For this year's celebration of Rosh Hashanah about 30,000 pilgrims are expected to visit the city of Uman, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Israel Faina Kirschenbaum said at a press conference, UNIAN reported.

“Our Israeli ambassador to Ukraine is making a great effort to make this visit successful, and is cooperating with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Our police officers, some of which work very closely with local authorities, will also come to Uman,” she said. According to Kirschenbaum, the Israeli side will follow the whole process of preparing for the arrival of the pilgrims. “We hope that everything will be peaceful because we want to make sure there are no unnecessary incidents,” added the deputy minister.

As reported, Hasidic pilgrims started to arrive to Uman in August for the celebration of Rosh Hashanah, Jewish New Year 5774, at the grave of Rabbi Nachman. During the pilgrimage, more than 400 policemen will maintain public order in Uman.

This year's New Year the Hasidim will celebrate September 4-5. Last year, nearly 23,000 pilgrims from 24 countries met the New Year according to the Jewish calendar at the tomb of Rabbi Nachman.

Rabbi Nachman of Breslov (1772-1810) was the founder the Breslov Hasidic movement. He was buried in Uman in the Jewish cemetery. The tomb of Rabbi Rabbi Nachman is one of the most revered shrines of the Hasidm and the place of the annual mass pilgrimage.
