Jews in Chernivtsi Will Have Synagogue

The head of the Chernivtsi Regional State Administration, Mykhailo Papiev, promised the Jewish religious community Ruzhyn Sandhora that they will have a synagogue.

The head of the Chernivtsi Regional State Administration, Mykhailo Papiev, promised the Jewish religious community Ruzhyn Sandhora that they will have a synagogue.

On 16 November, the official met with Chief Rabbi of the region, Menahem Mendl Glitsenshtein. During the meeting, the parties discussed questions of cooperation, preservation and renewal of religious monuments of the Jewish nation, particularly, synagogues at Sadovskoho Street and in Sadhora, cleaning of a Jewish cemetery at Zelena Street and a synagogue in the town of Vyzhnytsia.

The head of the administration added that he will provide assistance within his powers to ensure that the building of the Sadhora synagogue is transferred to the religious community and funds are raised for the restoration thereof.

According the press service of the Chernivtsi Regional State Administration, Mykhailo Papiev thanked the well-known sponsor, Aaron Maiberg, who donated the funds necessary to restore the old building of the synagogue at Sadovskoho Street, reported www.oda.cv.ua.
