Metropolitan Jonathan of Tulchyn is the face of the UOC-MP, wearing a mask to hide his true ugly nature.
Such characteristic of the UOC-MP hierarch was given by Metropolitan Yevstratiy (Zorya) of Bila Tserkva of the OCU.
According to him, Jonathan (Yeleckykh) is one of the cornerstones of the Moscow Patriarchate system in Ukraine, a co-creator of its current structure.
"He is an ethnic Russian of the Soviet model. It's an important fact, for internally, neither his history, culture, or upbringing unite him with Ukraine.
When Gundyaev was the rector of the Academy of the Russian Orthodox Church in Leningrad (in the 1970s), he hired Yeleckykh as a singing instructor, as he had a good voice and musical talent.
However, immediately after Gundyaev's dismissal from the rectorate, Yeleckykh was expelled from the Academy by the new rector for living an immoral life. This fact haunts him to this day, and he does not even hide it," said Bishop Yevstratiy.
Gundyaev and the KGB continued to look after Metropolitan Jonathan, and eventually, he found his place in Kyiv. As a longtime friend and associate of the Russian Orthodox Church leader, Jonathan stood at the origins of the division of Ukraine and Ukrainian Orthodoxy more than three decades ago.
"There is a small but telling detail worth mentioning: the first order Gundyaev presented as the newly elected Patriarch of the Russian Orthodox Church (even before his formal enthronement in February 2009) was the one given to Jonathan on the occasion of his anniversary.
Thus, Jonathan and Gundyaev are birds of a feather, the Yin and Yang of the Moscow Patriarchate, longtime collaborators, and wards of the KGB. The fact that Yeleckykh returned to his master is perfectly logical, as is the humility Gundyaev demonstrates in front of the cameras, kissing his faithful servant.
Jonathan is the face of the UOC-MP, wearing a mask to hide his true ugly nature," said Metropolitan Yevstratiy of Bila Tserkva of the OCU.
