Pechersk District Court of Kyiv sentenced former prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko to 7 years of imprisonment. The decision was announced by Judge Rodion Kireyev.
The court also satisfied the civil action of Joint Stock Company Naftogaz Ukrainian which demanded that Tymoshenko reimburse the company's losses - UAH 1.5 billion - caused by the signing of the agreements in January 2009.
Upon Tymoshenko’s arrest, the heads of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Kyivan Patriarchate, Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church, Roman Catholic Church, Baptists and Pentecostals approached Judge Kireiev with a request to release the former prime minister.
