The Local Council of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine has appealed to the Ecumenical Patriarch to condemn the teaching of the "Russian World" as a heretical manifestation of ethno-phyletism.

The Сouncil also called for the condemnation and removal from the throne of Patriarch Kirill Gundyaev of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) for promoting this teaching and blessing and justifying the crimes of Russian aggression against Ukraine.

The letter to the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew from the Local Council of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine was cited by Religiyna Pravda.

The Orthodox Church of Ukraine had previously made a similar appeal to Patriarch Bartholomew.

"The Сouncil respectfully reminds of the previously submitted appeal of the Episcopal Council regarding the condemnation of the teaching of the 'Russian World' as a heretical manifestation of ethno-phyletism. It also calls for the condemnation and removal from the throne of Patriarch Kirill (Gundyaev) of the Russian Orthodox Church for promoting this teaching and blessing and justifying the crimes of Russian aggression against Ukraine," the appeal states.
