Metropolitan Agafangel (Savvin) of Odesa, member of the Synod of the UOC-MP, delivered a Christmas message in 2020, in which he declared that the UOC-MP was experiencing persecutions on the part of Ukrainian "adepts of Devil", reports Religion in Ukraine quoting the Facebook page of the Diocese of Odesa.

"The Ukrainian Orthodox Church is going through a night of persecution filled with the darkness of lies, slander and violence. But we hope that the Lord who redeemed the Church with his Blood (Acts 20, 28), will strengthen all her faithful children in the present time of trials and temptations. No matter how strong is the devils outrage, no matter how hard the ministers of hell oppose the Church of Christ, we know and believe the Church will come out of the fire of persecution purified and renewed, and supporters and followers pseudochurch political projects disappear into historical oblivion as the Renovationists disappeared and dissenters of various kinds did," Metropolitan Agafangel welcomes the faithful.

Earlier, the speakers of the UOC-MP have repeatedly stated that they were satisfied with the attitude of the new Ukrainian authorities to the UOC-MP.
