The head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate (UOC-MP), Metropolitan Volodymyr, sent the following open letters to Ukraine’s president, the head of the presidential administration, and heads of factions in the Supreme Council of Ukraine regarding the renewal of the Tithe Church.
“We address You with a request to support the renewal of the Tithe Church in the city of Kyiv, which is to be done as a sign of respect for the founder of our statehood and Baptizer of the Kyivan Rus, Holy Prince Volodymyr Equal to the Apostles.
“The inter-departmental work team working under the headship of the representative of Ukraine’s President in the Supreme Council, Y. Miroshnychenko has developed and submitted to the Supreme Council of Ukraine a draft law of Ukraine 'On renewal of the unique symbol of Orthodoxy, the Church of the Mother of God (Tithe Church) in the city of Kyiv.'
“We ask You to take every possible step to ensure the passing by the Supreme Council of Ukraine of the decision to renew the Tithe Church,” read the letters of the hierarch published by the website of UOC-MP.
