Metropolitan Volodymyr Receives Ambassador of Palestine to Ukraine

On Thursday Metropolitan Volodymyr of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate (UOC-MP) received Ambassador of Palestine to Ukraine Mohammed Al-Assad at the Kyiv Cave Monastery.

On Thursday Metropolitan Volodymyr of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate (UOC-MP) received Ambassador of Palestine to Ukraine Mohammed Al-Assad at the Kyiv Cave Monastery. The guest arrived accompanied by the consul and third secretary of the embassy. Deputy chairman of the Department for External Church Relations Bishop Alexander of Pereyaslav-Khmelnytskyy and co-worker of the department deacon Rostyslav Vorobiy took part in the meeting, the official website of the metropolitan informs.

The ambassador conveyed greetings of President of Palestine Makhmud Abbas to Metropolitan Volodymyr and assured him that he is always a welcomed guest in Palestine. The parties discussed possible moments of cooperation, among which the guests raised question of setting up of pilgrimages from Ukraine to shrines in the Palestinian land.

Upon completion of the meeting, the ambassador offered a handmade wooden cross as a present to Patriarch Volodymyr, which he personally acquired in Bethlehem. In return, the ambassador received a silver jubilee medal of the Primate of the UOC dedicated to his 75th anniversary as a souvenir.
