Metropolitan Volodymyr is going to donate a facsimile copy of the Peresopnytsia Gospels along with several rarities from his Shevchenko collection to the museum.

KYIV On the birthday anniversary of Taras Shevchenko, March 9, 2010, at 4:00 p.m. the primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate (UOC-MP) is planning to call the Taras Shevchenko National Museum  (Taras Shevchenko Boulevard, 12).

Metropolitan Volodymyr is going to donate a facsimile copy of the Peresopnytsia Gospels – the poet was involved in the study of the Gospels – along with several rarities from his Shevchenko collection to the museum.

According to the UOC-MP site, the head of the  UOC-MP is a known connoisseur of the creative works of Shevchenko. His collection of rarities is very valuable. The unique collection was first presented to the public in 2004 and the second exhibition of 2006 was entirely based on the collection of Metropolitan Volodymyr.
