Moscow Patriarchate loses a first parish in Kolomyia region

The villagers declared about the transferunder the jurisdiction of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Kyiv Patriarchate.

According to Dzerkalo Kolomiyi, based on the decision of the village assembly, Ruling hierarch of the Diocese of Kolomiya, Bishop Yulian (Hatala) of Kolomiya and Kosivaccepted the parish of Mykhalkiv village to the Diocese of Kolomya, Otyniya deanery.

According to the explanation of the peasants, they have taken this decision in connection with the events in Eastern Ukraine and aggression of Russia against Ukrainian people.

According to Bishop Yulian (Hatala), this is the first church in the Carpathian region that left the jurisdiction of the Moscow Patriarchate in the last 20 years.

The largest number of churches of the Moscow Patriarchate in Transcarpathian region is concentrated in Kolomyia region. There are nine churches and a monastery out of thirty one. Two of them are located directly in Kolomyia: the Holy Assumption Cathedral and the Holy Annunciation Church.
