Most Orthodox churches are waiting for the right moment to recognize the OCU, - Archimandrite Cyril Hovorun

The recognition of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church by local churches will continue slowly but steadily.

This opinion was expressed by a freelance cleric of the Russian Orthodox church, Archimandrite Cyril Hovorun in an interview with Saken Aimurzaev on the YouTube channel "DetectorUA", Religiyna Pravda reports.

"Most churches have become ready for recognition. They are only waiting for an opportunity. They are waiting for tensions to subside because the churches do not want the confrontation between Moscow and Constantinople to continue. They understand that this confrontation will grow and internal Orthodox tension will increase if the recognition process is forced. Therefore, they are in no hurry," the Archimandrite explained.

He noted that most members of the Synods of local Churches have already made a decision on this issue.

"The Churches still do not have a consensus. Every Church has Synods, Synods have members who support independence, and there are those who are against it. I will say that the number of members in Synods who support the recognition of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine and are just waiting for the time when it will be convenient to do so has increased," Hovorun added.
