The Orthodox Church of Ukraine has expressed its condolences to the hierarchs of the Serbian Church over the death of Patriarch Irinej.

The press secretary of the OCU, Archbishop Yevstratiy (Zorya), wrote about this on Facebook.

"On my behalf and behalf of the fullness of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, I express my condolences to the hierarchs of the Serbian Orthodox Church, the orphaned flock, and the Serbian people. Let the words of support and comfort written by the Apostle Paul be especially in your hearts these days: "I do not want, brothers, to leave you in ignorance of the dead so that you do not grieve like others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, then God will bring those who died in Jesus with him" (1 Thess. 4: 13)," the Metropolitan said.

"May the Lord rest the soul of the newly deceased Patriarch Irinej in his abodes, inspire the Serbian Church with His Providence to choose a worthy successor to the throne of St. Sava and be merciful to all of us.

Eternal Memory, Eternal Rest and the Kingdom of Heaven to our deceased brother Patriarch Irinej!"
