OCU Primate meets with representatives of the OSCE mission that monitors Ukraine’s presidential elections

On March 13, 2019, Metropolitan Epifaniy of Kyiv and All Ukraine met with Peter Taylor, Head of the OSCE / ODIHR Election Observation Mission to Ukraine's 2019 presidential election. An analyst on political issues of the Mission, Yarek Domansky, also took part in the meeting.

According to the official website of the OCU, the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine advised the mission representatitves on the address of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church to the Ukrainian people concerning the presidential elections in Ukraine.

The Holy Synod urged Ukrainians in this appeal to come to the polls and make a responsible, conscious choice.

“Our common task is to preserve the statehood, independence and unity of Ukraine. Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate candidates not by promises, but by the fruits of their activities, the ability to cope with the tasks set before the head of state,” said the Metropolitan, answering the questions of Peter Taylor.

During the meeting the parties also discussed the actual issues of the development of Orthodoxy in Ukraine. At the end of the meeting, the head of the OCU presented guests with memorable gifts.
