Patriarch Lubomyr and Bishop Bohdan (Dziurakh) met with Ambassador Heidi Tagliavini, the head of the OSCE Mission on observation of the presidential election in Ukraine.
KYIV — On January 4, 2009, Patriarch Lubomyr, the head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, and Bishop Bohdan (Dziurakh), the head of the Patriarchal Administration of UGCC, met with Ambassador Heidi Tagliavini, the head of the OSCE Mission on observation of the presidential election in Ukraine. During the meeting, Heidi Tagliavini noticed the contribution being made by the UGCC in the revival of the Ukrainian society, particularly, in the revival of democratic processes in Ukraine. In addition, the ambassador presented the mission’s objectives including “the aspiration of OSCE not only to observe but also support the positive changes taking place in the Ukrainian society.”
Patriarch Lubomyr thanked the OSCE Mission for supporting Ukraine and noted that “our society is in the process of developing and it is very important for someone competent to help us.” The hierarch stressed that today the society shows considerable interest in political processes.
