Do you remember how our soldiers went almost unarmed to cover our Motherland and save it from danger. And then we mobilized to support our volunteers. His Beatitude Sviatoslav, the Father and Head of the UGCC said during his homily at the Liturgy served at the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ in Kyiv on International Volunteer Day.

“The biggest volunteer is the Lord himself, who willingly becomes a neighbor, stands next to us, our physician, our solution to all our personal life problems and hardships. He, similarly to that volunteer, comes and says: “give Me your trouble and I will give you my strength”, said His Beatitude Sviatoslav.

The Head of the Church outlined that today we are especially grateful to those who without awaiting any pressure or tension, personal benefit hurry to help out those who is weaker and in the biggest need among all the rest.

The Head of the Church reminds that volunteer’s activity has been rooted in the activity of Christian communities since their foundation.

“We testified this splash of volunteering during the Maidans… Owing to our volunteers we still exist as free and independent state. Volunteer work and voluntary movements save our people and state again”, the Head of the UGCC assures.

These are all of us, in particular, who Christ addresses these words to: “Do not be afraid, just believe”.

“Let these words be our strength in time of great anxiety, which we are going through. God’s grace become that inner power of Christian testimony which Ukraine and the whole world is expecting today”, the Major Archbishop wished.
