Party of Regions State that Viktor Yanukovych Did Not Award Adelaja

Representatives of the president’s entourage state they are unaware that President Viktor Yanukovych awarded the pastor Sunday Adelaja.

KYIV – Representatives of the president’s entourage state they are unaware that President Viktor Yanukovych awarded the pastor Sunday Adelaja, information which was spread on the Internet, including on the RISU site,  referencing the Embassy of God church. They would like to see the signature of the president on the award. They also do not exclude the possibility that someone used a presidential letterhead to award Adelaja.

"But there was no party decision as to his awarding on behalf Viktor Yanukovych. The idea was voiced in the Kyiv headquarters but it was flatly rejected. It is ravings and provocation," commented Vasyl Horbal, the head of the Kyiv branch of the Party of Regions.

"I know nothing about it," remarked the deputy head of the president's administration, Hanna Herman.

At the same time, the press service of the Embassy of God maintains that the award was presented. "We are grateful to the president for marking Sunday," its representatives add.
