According to Patriarch Filaret, now the Kyiv Patriarchate is supported by 60 percent of the population.

The Patriarch indicated the precondition under which the Moscow Patriarchate may cease to exist in Ukraine – the recognition of the UOC-KP by Ecumenical Patriarchate. He said this in an interview with Deutsche Welle.

“We want the Ecumenical Patriarch to recognize the Kyiv Patriarchate as autocephalous church, i.e. an independent church and maintain liturgical community with our church. If we achieve this, then the episcopate and clergy of the Moscow Patriarchate in Ukraine will join the Kyiv Patriarchate, and the Moscow Patriarchate in Ukraine will cease to exist,” said the Primate.
