After the death of Metropolitan Volodymyr there will be a fight between Ukraine and Russia for the nomination of new candidates for the position of the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate)

After the death of Metropolitan Volodymyr there will be a fight between Ukraine and Russia for the nomination of new candidates for the position of the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate), said Patriarch Filaret, according to Radio Liberty.

“Moscow wants to put its Primate of the UOC (MP), its protégé, to fulfill the will of Moscow. That is, imagine what will happen if this party wins? In terms of undeclared war between Russia and Ukraine it will serve the interests of the aggressor. On Saturday Patriarch Filaret prayed with parishioners at St. Volodymyr Cathedral in Kyiv for the repose of Metropolitan Volodymyr.

Metropolitan Volodymyr died Saturday morning at the age of 79 after a long illness. In late June, he suffered from internal bleeding
