The sides exchanged views on the current situation in Ukraine, especially due to the Russian aggression in the east of our country. Patriarch spoke about his vision of the true causes of aggression and intentions of the aggressor.
“It is not the matter of Donbass on whether the Third World War or joint efforts we will not allow it,” said the Patriarch. “For if the aggressor does not stop there, he, like Hitler, will ignite war in Europe and throughout the world. We are grateful to Europe, and all supporters of Ukraine for their support and hope that together we can achieve a just peace.“
The Vice-President of the European Parliament praised the position of the Kyiv Patriarchate in the current conflict, and stressed the need to put spiritual values in the first place.
