Patriarch Filaret, the head of the Kyivan Patriarchate, stated on a program of Channel 5 that no dialogue has been conducted between the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Kyivan Patriarchate and the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church but that both churches hold the Ukrainian statehood position.
“The thing is no dialogue has been conducted between the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Kyivan Patriarchate and theUkrainian Greek Catholic Church but we hold the same position with respect to the state, we hold the statehood position and the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church holds the statehood position, therefore we are united in this regard. As for the confrontations of the beginning of the 1990s, they subsided, because churches have been built both for the Orthodox communities and the Greek Catholics and there is nothing to dispute. Therefore, favorable conditions have been created for our good relations,” stated Patriarch Filaret, reported ZAXID.NET.
