Patriarch Josef Slipyj Remembered in UGCC Patriarchal Cathedral in Kyiv

On 16 December, in the Patriarchal Cathedral of Christ’s Resurrection, the Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, Patriarch Sviatoslav led a hierarchical liturgy where Patriarch Josef Slipyj was remembered in prayers.

On 16 December, in the Patriarchal Cathedral  of Christ’s Resurrection, the Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, Patriarch Sviatoslav led a hierarchical liturgy where Patriarch Josef Slipyj was remembered in prayers. Let us remind the readers that 2012 has been declared the year of Patriarch Josef in UGCC.

According to the Information Department of UGCC, the hierarch said in his address, “We remember today a special person in the history of Ukraine and our Church, the Servant of God, Patriarch Josef (Slipyj). It is a man who found life. He followed this path himself and is today leading us all along it. Let the example of Servant of God Patriarch Josef be a real guide to us today and therefore a call to follow Christ in the fog of the present world in order for no one to get lost but to inherit eternal life.”

After the liturgy, Archbishop Emeritus Lubomyr (Husar) read a memoir lecture about Patriarch Josef.
