Patriarch Sviatoslav Begins Pastoral Visit to Odesa

Patriarch Sviatoslav of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church is coming to Odesa on December 7 for a 5-day pastoral visit.

Patriarch Sviatoslav of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church is coming to Odesa on December 7 for a 5-day pastoral visit. The head of the UGCC is to hold a number of formal and informal meetings and participate in a local TV program.  

According to the website of the UGCC, in Odesa the hierarch will meet with catechists, priests, monks of the Odesa and Mykolayiv regions, leaders of the Christian denominations of the city, and workers of charitable foundations.

“Patriarch Sviatoslav always pays special attention to young people. Therefore, he will spend one day to communicate with young residents of Odesa. The meeting will be held in the Lutheran Kircha as the Greek Catholics of Odesa still have no full-fledged church building,” said Fr. Ruslan Ostafii, the senior priest of the Church of St. Apostle Andrew located in a residential building.
