The initiative's proposer believes that the document's adoption will help return the Kyiv-Pechersk Monastery, the Holy Assumption Pochayiv Monastery and Sviatohirsk Monastery to state ownership.

A petition calling for support for a bill that will help ban the activities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church MP gained the necessary 25 thousand votes. This was reported on the website of electronic petitions.

The author of the appeal, the European Solidarity Party MP Oleksiy Honcharenko, called on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to support Bill No. 8221, which provides for a ban on the activities of institutions subordinate to Russia.

"The bill provides for early termination of all kinds of lease, tenure or leasing documents with this institution, as well as with legal entities, owners, participants, shareholders of which he is," Honcharenko wrote.

According to him, this will help to return to state ownership such iconic objects as the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, the Holy Dormition Pochayiv Lavra and the Svyatohirsk Lavra, which previously were held by the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate.

Now the petition must be considered by the president, who must give an answer to it. Zelensky has 89 days to do this.
