Polish Parliament recognizes the deportation of Crimean Tatars in 1944 as genocide - фото 1
The Sejm of Poland approved the Resolution "On commemorating the victims of the genocide of the Crimean Tatar people" with 414 votes in favor (16 against, 2 abstentions).

MP Refat Chubarov wrote about this on his Facebook page.

"The deportation of the Crimean Tatars in 1944 and its consequences were an act of genocide against the Crimean Tatar people," the Resolution says.

"We thank the leadership and deputies of the Sejm, we thank all those involved in the preparation of this decision both in Poland and in Ukraine.

Special thanks to Pavel Koval, Chairman of the Sejm Foreign Affairs Committee, Mykola Kniazhytskyi, MP of Ukraine, Vasyl Zvarych, Ambassador of Ukraine to Poland (now to the Czech Republic), members of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, and Nedym Useinov, member of the Executive Board of the World Congress of Crimean Tatars and coordinator in Poland," Refat Chubarov said.
