After the conclusion of the Synod of Bishops of the UGCC, which took place in Rome from September 3 to 13, 2023, Pope Francis sent a letter to the Head of the UGCC, Sviatoslav.

This was reported by the Information Department of the UGCC.

In his letter, the Pope thanked the bishops of the UGCC for their attentive mutual listening and sincere dialogue during their joint meeting, which took place on September 6 in the Vatican. He also assured that he prays for peace in Ukraine. Below is the text of the letter:

"To His Beatitude Sviatoslav,
Supreme Archbishop
of Kyiv-Halych

Dear Brother,

The memory of the meeting with the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic bishops who recently gathered in Rome for the Synod is still vivid in my mind.

I am grateful to you for the attentive and mutual listening and for the fraternal and sincere dialogue that evolved in a true spirit of conciliarity.

While invoking peace for beloved Ukraine, I impart my blessing to the bishops of the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church and to all the faithful entrusted to your pastoral care, and I ask you not to forget to pray for me.”

FRANCIS
