On Sunday, Pope Leo condemned the escalation of the war in Ukraine, urging for "an end to the violence and a commitment to dialogue."
The Pope made this appeal after an open-air Mass in Luanda, the capital of Angola, which drew approximately 100,000 people, according to Epochtimes.
“I am deeply saddened by the recent increase in shelling in Ukraine, which continues to harm the civilian population. I express my solidarity with those who are suffering and assure you of my prayers for the entire Ukrainian people. I renew my call for a ceasefire and urge that the path of dialogue be chosen,” he stated.
The Pope also addressed the conflict between Israel and Lebanon, commending the ceasefire, which “offers grounds for hope.”
He urged all parties involved in seeking a diplomatic solution to continue peace talks, so that the cessation of hostilities throughout the Middle East can become permanent.
