LVIV – On April 13, 2010, in the Lviv Palace of Arts at 4:00 p.m. the premiere showing of the documentary film “The UGCC: the Unknown Chronicle” took place. The project was produced by the advertising and production center Star-TV on the initiative of the Lviv Archeparchy of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church and with the support of the patron of the arts Mykola Kmit. The film is a continuation of a series of documentary works dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the legalization of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC).

As reports the Information Department of the UGCC, This is the first large-scale television project which represents thirty years of underground life of the forbidden Greek Catholic Church. The film discloses unknown facts about the underground and histories about oppression and terror committed by the totalitarian system. Dozens of living testimonies of priests, nuns, and laity who lived in those years and unique materials create an unknown chronicle of the underground Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church – the most persecuted religious community in the world.

The film “The UGCC: The Unknown Chronicle” is a tribute to the priests, monks, nuns, and laity who despite all the danger and degradation did not lose but maintained their faith in the future of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church.
