Preparations for the Jewish New Year 2023 (Rosh Hashanah 5783) began in Uman's community.
The news was announced by the Mayor of Uman, Irina Pletnova, on her Facebook page, as reported by JewishNews.
Last week, Mayor Irina Pletnova, along with her deputy Oleg Ganich, held a meeting with the head of the International Charitable Foundation named after Rabbi Nachman, Nathan Ben Nun, and representatives of the Bratslav Hasidic community.
The topics discussed during the meeting included:
• Entry conditions and registration for Hasidic pilgrims.
• Payment of the tourist fee.
• Security situation in the community.
• Improvement of the neighborhood.
The Mayor of Uman emphasized that all matters concerning the organization of the pilgrimage for Bratslav Hasidic members will be addressed within the legal framework to ensure transparent collection of the tourist fee, which will contribute to the development and improvement of the Uman community.
Earlier, JewishNews reported that the Israeli ambassador to Ukraine met with the leadership of Ukraine's Ministry of Internal Affairs to discuss the visit of Israeli pilgrims to Uman. This year, the celebration of Rosh Hashanah and the associated pilgrimage will take place from September 15th to September 17th.
