President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko visited the residence of Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Ukraine at the Kyiv-Caves Monastery, where he paid tribute to and prayed at the coffin of His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr, who departed to the Lord on July 5 in the morning.
Condolences of the President of Ukraine
It is with a deep sorrow that I learned about the death of Metropolitan Volodymyr of Kyiv and All Ukraine, Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
The outstanding spiritual leader, who led the Church at the time of its revival after decades of brutal persecution, reposed in God. By his own example he called to live the commandments of God, called to mercy and charity, reconciliation and harmony. His entire Archpastoral ministry was full of love for his native Ukraine.
I express my sincere condolences to the hierarchy, clergymen, monks and all the faithful of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church over to the irreparable loss of the Primate.
