President Yanukovych Meets Patriarch Kirill and President Medvedev in Moscow

President Viktor Yanukovych visited Moscow on April 5, 2010, on a working visit.

MOSCOW – President Viktor Yanukovych visited Moscow on April 5, 2010, on a working visit, reports the official presidential web site.

In the morning the president visited the Novodevichy Cemetery, where he laid flowers at the grave of Georgii Beregovoi, pilot and cosmonaut, twice Hero of the Soviet Union, who was Viktor Yanukovych’s tutor. He also took part in a short service held at the cemetery.

The president of Ukraine also laid flowers at the grave of the first Russian President Boris Yeltsin.

As part of his one-day working visit to Moscow, President Viktor Yanukovych met with the primate of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill I of Moscow.

In the afternoon President Yanukovych met with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev at Gorki presidential residence. The two presidents held a bilateral meeting during which they discussed prospects of Ukrainian-Russian cooperation.
