Question of Transfer of Kyiv Cave Reserve to Church May Be Submitted to Public Hearing
The question of the transfer of the Kyiv Cave Reserve to the church may be considered at a public hearing, Minister of Culture of Ukraine Mykhailo Kulyniak said at a briefing on January 31.
He stated in this regard: “No one is talking about the transfer of the National Historic and Cultural Kyiv Cave Reserve to the church now. There is a draft law developed by a group of natioanl deputies. President Viktor Yanukovych stresses this (there is an instruction of the president to develop two laws - the law on the freedom of worship and the law on restitution of church property). I am acquainted with the draft law, even though it has not been passed to the Ministry of Culture for elaboration and expert assessment so far. I think that this issue should be considered at a public hearing. As a minister, I cannot prohibit the deputies to develop laws, but I will meet with the developers of the law and will recommend that it should be discussed with public organizations and the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches,” reported the website Museum space of Ukraine.
