On August 1, the Exarch of the Ecumenical Patriarch in Ukraine, Bishop Mykhailo (Anishchenko) of Komana, led the Divine Liturgy in the Upper Church of the Stavropol Territory of the Ecumenical Patriarchate – St. Andrew's Church in Kyiv. The Divine Liturgy was held on the occasion of honoring the memory of the Holy Fathers of the Six Ecumenical Councils.
This is reported by "Spiritual Front Of Ukraine".
To participate in the service, the entrance to St. Andrew's Church is free for believers. At the same time, the St. Andrew's Church Museum of the National Reserve "Sofia of Kyiv" continues its activities.
This is the first divine service after the signing of the agreement with the National Reserve "Sofia of Kyiv" on the free permanent use of the Representation of the Metochion of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Ukraine by St. Andrew's Church, which was and will remain the property of the state.
This is a unique situation when services are performed in one place in two styles: in the upper, restored St. Andrew's Church, services are held in the old style, and in the Lower Church-Chapel – in the new style.
In his sermon, Bishop Mykhailo emphasized the importance of praying for other people and called for the development of the talents that God has bestowed on everyone.
"Each person is unique, you just need to understand what the Lord has given him and develop it. Because envy belittles and destroys love between people and destroys virtues," the bishop of Komana said during his sermon.
"Let us pray for others and try to discover the talents that the Lord has given us. We do not envy each other, we cherish our virtues every day, we read the Holy Scriptures to purify our minds and our souls. To learn, remembering that each fragment of the Holy Scriptures is addressed to us and is an instruction on how to live," Bishop Mykhailo, Exarch of the Ecumenical Patriarch in Kyiv, summed up.
On January 9, 2019, the Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate appointed Archimandrite (from November 8, 2020 - Bishop of Komana) Mykhailo (Anishchenko) as the head of the stavropegia in Kyiv.
On December 13, 2020, a solemn Liturgy was held in St. Andrew's Church on the occasion of the opening of the church.
In early July 2021, stavropegia was visited by guests from Mount Athos and Turkey.
