Representatives of various churches, the Parliament and the government discussed the next steps in countering domestic violence and human trafficking, involving the educational potential of religious communities.
The new meeting of the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and religious organizations and the inter-factional deputy association "Values. Dignity. Rodina", which took place on April 22, 2021, in Kyiv, focused on issues of practical support for families. This is reported by the Institute for Religious Freedom.
It was about the educational role of religious organizations among young people to help them plan their families and develop marital relations on a strong spiritual and moral basis.
The meeting participants also discussed practical measures that can integrate the efforts of the state and religious organizations to provide social support to married couples, especially women, during pregnancy and after the birth of a child. Such state-church cooperation should be part of comprehensive measures to respond to the demographic crisis in Ukraine.
Religious figures, parliamentarians and government officials also focused on topical issues of the post-covid period: depression, suicide and alienation of women.
Inter-factional deputy association "Values. Dignity. Family" was represented by its co-chairman Svyatoslav Yurash and MP Vadim Strunevych (Servant of the People).
First Deputy Minister of social policy of Ukraine Yevhen Kotyk and Presidential Commissioner for children's rights Mykola Kuleba also joined the discussion of State family policy issues.
The meeting was attended by the chairman of the Auccro, head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church His Beatitude Sviatoslav, Archbishop of Chernihiv and Nizhyn of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine Yevstratiy, Bishop of the Roman Catholic Church Alexander Yazlovetsky, head of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Ukraine Stanislav Nosov, Bishop of the Ukrainian Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church Markos Hovhannisyan, first deputy senior bishop of the Ukrainian Church of evangelical Christians Anatoly Kozachok and representatives of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Ukrainian Christian evangelical church, Ukrainian evangelical church and Ukrainian Bible Society. The meeting was also attended by Oleksandr Zayets, chairman of the board of the Institute for Religious Freedom.
This is the fifth meeting of the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations with the inter-factional deputy association "Values. Dignity. Family", which are held monthly, starting from December 2020.
