Reps of Ukrainian Orthodox Church Met With Patriarch Theophilos III in Jerusalem

With the blessing of Metropolitan Volodymyr, on 1-3 January, the official delegation of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate (UOC-MP) led by the head of the Department of External Church Relations, Archbishop Oleksandr of Pereiaslav-Khmelnytskyi and Vyshneve visited the Holy Land.

With the blessing of Metropolitan Volodymyr, on 1-3 January, the official delegation of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate (UOC-MP) led by the head of the Department of External Church Relations, Archbishop Oleksandr of Pereiaslav-Khmelnytskyi and  Vyshneve visited the Holy Land.

On 2 January, Archbishop Oleksandr celebrated a liturgy in the in the Holy Mount's convent. On the same day, the representatives of UOC-MP met with Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem. During the meeting, the patriarch greeted the pilgrims and passed an Icon of the Nativity to the head of UOC-MP with wishes of quick recovery. The parties exchanged presents.

Thereafter, Archbishop Alexander and accompanying persons visited the Holy Sepulchre, Gethsemane, the Savior Ascension Convent at the Mount of Olives, where they prayerfully bowed unto the local shrines.

On January 3, Archbishop Aleksander of Pereyalav-Khmelnytskyi and Vyshneve in concelebration with Archbishop Theophilactus of Jordan celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Cave of the Nativity in Bethlehem.

On the same day the official delegation of the UOC returned to Kyiv.
