The World Interdenominational Prayer for Israel was held in Kyiv for the first time but it is planned to do it annually. The decision to hold one interchurch prayer for Israel was made by heads of Evangelical Churches and associations at an interdenominational meeting in Kyiv on May 14, 2012, Olena Mokrenchuk reported to RISU.
In the building of the Christian Hope Church, where services of the Kyiv Jewish Messianic Community are currently held, nearly three thousand Kyivans together with the leaders of Christian Churches and denominations of Ukraine prayed for the state of Israel, its people and government, for Jews all over the world, the neighboring states and against anti-Semitism in all its manifestations.
The celebration was accompanied by the singing of the united youth choir of the Churches of Evangelical Christians Baptists of Kyiv. A Christian singer Oleh Maiovskyi composed a “Prayer for Israel” for the occasion. The participants sang songs about Israel in Hebrew, Ukrainian and Russian. The heads of the denominations wished peace to Jerusalem and prayed for various aspects of life of the Jewish state and people.
The prayer was attended by President of the Ukrainian Bible Society Hryhorii Komendant, Deputy Head of the All-Ukrainian Union of Churches of Evangelical Christians Baptists Mykhailo Kasprov, representatives of the leadership of the Union of Christians of Evangelical Faith, Pentecostals (Bishop M. Panochko), Association of Evangelical Churches Ukrainian Missionary Church, Bishop Valerii Reshetynskyi, Ukrainian Theological Seminary, Association of Christian Evangelical Church of the Living God, Bishop Serhii Baliuk, Kyiv Jewish Messianic Community, Senior Rabbi Borys Hrytsenko, the Church of Nazarene, Bishop V. Masiuk and others.
Similar prayers were held in Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, Vinnytsia, Lviv, Mykolayiv, Cherkasy, Berdychiv, Romny.
