The first response was received from representatives of the ROC to today's recognition of the OCU by the Patriarchate of Alexandria.

According to Interfax, Deputy Chair of the DECR MP Archpriest Nikolai Balashov said in his comment to RIA Novosti:

“It is with deep regret that the Russian Orthodox Church received the news on the decision of Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria to recognize the head of the schismatic “Orthodox Church of Ukraine” and to introduce his name in the sacred diptychs of the Church of Alexandria. This decision makes it impossible to further commemorate the name of the Patriarch of Alexandria during Patriarchal services in the Russian Orthodox Church. The Holy Synod of the Moscow Patriarchate will have further consideration of this issue.”
