Hieromonk Makariy (Markish), a cleric of the Ivanovo-Voznesensk Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church, has proposed the approval of a practice that involves blessing objects that are beneficial to people. This includes ballistic missiles, which can cause harm, provided that there is no magical element involved in their use.

This was reported by the Telegram channel Christians Against War.

Makariy stated, “There is nothing wrong with speaking positively about an object that benefits certain people, whether it’s a delivery robot, a ballistic missile, or a ballpoint pen.”

He emphasized that it's important for this appreciation not to be linked to magic, adding, “Such beliefs should be dismissed and not substituted with rituals.”
