This was stated at the conference "Russia's war against Ukraine – a war of ideologies and cultures" by a member of the European Parliament from Germany, member of the European Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee Michael Gahler.

"We see how religion, in this case, the Christian religion, can become instruments of war," Gahler said.
According to him, Christian and humanistic values are designed to protect peoples from the horrors of war, dictatorship and lies, which "even religion is trying to turn into an instrument of war."
According to Gahler, it is necessary to speak openly about Russia's use of religion to continue the war in order to "expose all the horrors that are happening in Ukraine, as well as about all those charlatans who consecrate guns and bless those who then kill civilians."
"Such, for example, as Patriarch Kirill, the head of the Orthodox Church, who is simply an FSB officer in a patriarchal cassock," Gahler said, adding that he"always speaks about this directly and harshly, including in the European Parliament."
According to the politician, such people "should be exposed and directly called propagandists of death and destruction."
