The Russian Federation is attempting to destabilize the situation in Ukraine, utilizing all possible resources, including religious institutions.
This was stated by the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, Oleksiy Danilov. According to him, this has been particularly evident in the past two weeks, reports Spiritual Front of Ukraine.
"Enormous discrediting campaigns are underway, and special operations are taking place in the information space not only on the territory of our country but also in the West," he emphasized, without specifying the exact details.
Danilov emphasized that the Russians cannot defeat us on the battlefield, so they are trying to undermine the situation within the country. He noted that Russia has been attempting for years to divide Ukraine into parts.
"Regrettably, religious institutions that are subordinated to Russia are participating in this," the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council stressed. Danilov expressed regret that the Ukrainian Parliament has not passed a law regarding the activities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate.
"It's a pity that the deputies of the Verkhovna Rada [Ukrainian Parliament] have not yet passed laws that would put an end to this issue. This needs to be addressed because if we leave this unresolved problem, it's only a matter of time before they engage people, some openly and some covertly, to achieve their goal," the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council emphasized.
In response to a clarifying question about whether this concerns a ban on the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate, Danilov stated that it is about its compliance with our laws and Constitution.
"That's how it should be interpreted. We're not banning anyone; we're saying that if you have your registration center in Moscow, then be aware that we won't tolerate this when we're at war with Russia," he emphasized.
