The Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) has confronted residents of the occupied part of the Zaporizhia region with the fact that they will be required to pay donations for its needs.

According to reports from residents of the temporarily uncontrolled city of Melitopol, announcements have been posted on the streets of the city, according to Telegraph.

Russian priests have explained that donations have significantly decreased since the occupation began and have requested that 5% of the salary of all residents in the region be withdrawn by the "administration" to support the Church.

They are justifying their decision with the results of a supposed sociological survey, which allegedly revealed that the majority of residents do not oppose this measure.

The Russian Orthodox Church does not hide the fact that it perceives the UOC-MP as its part and calls it its "representative" in Ukraine.
